The Book that Group 3 has chosen to read is called The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. The book is composed of 384 pages. The book is included in the best sellers list on __amazon.com__. We have also heard many good comments about the book. It has many good reviews on many other websites. Quote from an __amazon.com__ review: “Wow. I was barely able to put this book down for a second after the first few pages got me completely hooked.” The book was also part of the summer reading choice, and many students at our school chose to read the book. They have said many good things about the book, and many of these students have or are going on to read the next books within the series. Amazon.com also published a survey that resulted in 4,672 reviews. Of those reviews 3, 579 have rated the book five stars.

A main factor in our choosing of this book is the fact that the main characters of the book are of a similar age to our own. Because of this we can relate more easily to the characters and have a better understanding of our actions. Reading a novel with a character a similar age to our own can help us stay interested in the story and make sure we read the book even if we do not end up enjoying it. If we were to read a book instead about a 37 year old man it would probably be more boring than reading about another teenager. Although we may not be able to relate directly to the plot, reading about someone our age can help us get an idea of what we would do in the situations encountered in the book.

Most avid book readers will tell you that when books have been turned into movies, the books have been so much better. One major example of this is the Harry Potter series. Yes the movies were good, but the people who read the books said they left parts out or did them completely wrong. Just from the trailers, the movie is getting great reviews. For a book to be made into a movie, it needs a producer who sees something in the book that is so good that he/she is willing to invest millions of dollars to fund the movie. This requires a very solid piece of literature.

Counter-Arguments:
The book contains some violence and unsettling mental images. This book is part of a larger series which requires the reader to be ready to commit if they do not want to be left in the middle of plot.
